How do I access my email online using a Web Browser?
  • Enter http://www.silcon.com/webmail in the "Location" line of Netscape Navigator or the "Address" line of Internet Explorer.
  • Enter your user name in the SC Username entry box
  • If your e-mail address is johndoe@silcon.com, the username you will enter is johndoe (lower case)
  • Enter your password in the Password entry box.

Where did my new email from yesterday go?

Example: After arriving at your office, you access your home email from a Web Browser using WebMail.  You return home and access your email again, but this time you are using your Email Client from the desktop on your home computer.  All "new" messages (including the ones you have already read using Webmail) are downloaded from our server to your inbox.   The next day you access your email at the office again using WebMail and the messages you saw yesterday are no longer in your inbox.  You did not delete them.   Where did they go?

  • As soon as you open your desktop Email Client (like Netscape Communicator or Eudora Email) and download your "new" email all of the "new" email messages will be removed from our server.  Messages that have been downloaded from our server will no longer appear in your "in box" in WebMail.  From then on, you will only be able to access them from your Email Client on your desktop.

How do I access copies of the email I have sent using WebMail?

Copies of all email messages sent using WebMail are stored in the "sent mail" folder.

  • Click the "Mail" link to go to the Inbox Screen.
  • Select "sent mail " from the "Folder" dropdown box.
  • Click on the Go button to go to the Sent Mail Screen.

Why don't I have a copy of the mail that I sent using WebMail on my computer at home?

If you would like to also have copies of sent mail available for access on your desktop email client, "Bcc" Blind Carbon Copy yourself .

  • Enter your own email address in the Bcc address line and another copy will be available for download using your desktop email client on your home computer.

How do I attach multiple files using WebMail.

Currently when using WebMail, you may only attach one file per outgoing email message.

When I clicked on Send, I was returned to the Log On page.  Why didn't my email get sent?

WebMail is not a full email client program. You can't compose a "draft offline" like you can using an email client (i.e. Netscape Communicator) on your desktop at home. WebMail has a built-in security feature that will automatically log you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. WebMail was designed for use in "checking" your email when you are away from your home or your primary email management location.  It was not designed as a fully functioning email management system. However, it is a convenient program to use to stay "on top" of your email when you are traveling or at the office.

How long will my Sent Mail be accessible?

    • Click on the Empty Trash Link.
  • While viewing the message, click on the delete link.
    • Click the "Mail" link to go to the Inbox Screen.
