Why does it take so long to establish a connection?

Question: My system crashed and I had to restore it. Connecting to the Internet used to take about 30 sec but since I've restored my system it takes a whopping 1 min 30 sec.  Why does it take so long now?

Answer: When you restored your system, your Silcon Internet Connection properties may have defaulted to a setup that enabled Network Protocols. These protocols are not used or needed by Silcon Connections and just delay the time it takes to connect.  Click Here for instructions to correct your Connection Properties.
