If you want to keep track of how many people are visiting your
website, you can simply install a counter on your homepage. This is a simple and easy
process with Silicon Connections.
Simply insert the following text on the web page where you want the counter to appear:
<FONT SIZE=4>This page has been visited <IMG ALIGN=absbottom
SRC="http://personal-cgi.silcon.com/cgi-bin/count.cgi?df=yourloginname.dat|ft=1|dd=B|pad=0">
times since [Enter current date here].</FONT>
Be sure to change the "yourloginname.dat" part of this string to your actual
login name. For example, if your login is johndoe, you would change it do
johndoe.dat
Of course, you can edit the text between the tags (i.e. "This text has been
visited" and "times since..."), but everything else must remain exactly as
is. The only option that you have is changing the font that the counter is diplayed in.
Below are samples of the available fonts. In order to change the font for your counter
replace the B in the syntax, |dd=B|, demonstrated above to the capital
that coresponds to the font of your choice.
Important Note: The counter will not increment if you are accessing the web page
from a Silcon dialup number. This is to prevent the counter from incrementing while
you are testing your pages. The counter will increment when anyone else accesses
your site.
