How to change your Dial-Up Number

During the Setup Process

Windows: The Account Setup Wizard asks you to specify the number your computer dials. In this field, enter a dial-in number in your area (for available numbers click here).

Macintosh: After the installation has completed and the computer has been restarted, click on the phone menu at the top right of your menu-bar and select "Open FreePPP setup...".

  1. Click on the "Accounts" field (Located in the middle of the window).
  2. Click on "Edit..." located on the right side of the window.
  3. Locate the "Phone Number" field and change the number to the appropriate number (for available numbers click here). Click on "OK", and choose "Quit" from the file menu.

After Installation

Windows 95/98/ME: Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. Double-click on the "Dial-up Networking" folder. Locate the Silicon Connections icon. Click once on the icon, then hit Alt-Enter to bring up the properties window. Located in this window is the telephone number field. Replace the old number with the new number and select OK (for available numbers click here).

Windows 3.1: Double-click on the "Silicon Connections Dialer" icon located in the Netscape Navigator Personal Edition group. Your login name, password and the phone number will be displayed. Replace the old number with the new number (for available numbers click here). When you close the window, select Yes to save changes.

Macintosh: Click on the phone menu at the top right of your menu-bar and select "Open FreePPP setup...".

  1. Click on the "Accounts" field (Located in the middle of the window).
